The B.A.R.A., Masters, and PhD degrees offered by S8W University are religious degrees and are exempt from regulations of the State Board of Education of the Michigan Department of Education. They are however, accredited degree programs. These degree programs are administered through distance learning with no residency requirement.

Each degree program is an interdisciplinary program that is in keeping with the mission, goals and philosophy of the university.  Liberal Arts, generally speaking, has come to mean different things to different people and has evolved over time from the term’s original medieval meaning that focused on the classics to today’s treatment of the term “liberal” in the sense of liberating the mind from preconceived ideas, stereo typing, and prejudices. The mind liberated from its own prejudices is not limited by its own assumptions.

All good liberal arts programs develops students as critical thinkers. Students learn how to approach a subject, organize their thoughts, synthesize knowledge through making necessary connections, learn how to articulate the knowledge and write about it. Learning to investigate, look at evidence, note differences, and to think on different levels are skills that will enhance a student both personally and professionally.  Our Masters and PhD degree program carry this same goal into higher education and critical analysis with emphasis on in depth research and publication of the science of Spiritual Transformation and its global impact on upon humanity's wellness.  Enrollees in the Masters and PhD programs have the distinct privilege of obtaining researchships and doctoral fellowships with the National Center for Quality of Life Research, founded by Dr. Eric vonAnderseck, as well as co-authoring future reports, books and university curriculum with Dr. vonAnderseck and his peers.

The focus of Second 8th Week University is to build the kingdom of God through Apostolic Governance, thus assisting each Christian in reaching their spiritual goals. According to Charles Townes, the UC Berkeley professor who was awarded the $1.5-million Templeton Prize in March of 2005, there is no greater question facing humankind than discovering the purpose and meaning of life. “If you look at what religion is all about, it's trying to understand the purpose and meaning of our universe. . . Science tries to understand function and structures. If there is any meaning, structure will have a lot to do with any meaning. In the long run they must come together” (Stammer L.B., Times Staff Writer, “Physicist Wins Spirituality Prize,” Los Angeles Times, March 10, 2005).

The question of purpose and meaning of life are not themes that people reserve for Sunday when they are in church. These are deep seated questions that resound in the soul and has a direct impact on how one thinks and behaves as a human being, how one functions and how one relates to the world. Whether you are a man or a woman, a wife or a husband, a father or a mother, a lawyer, nurse, factory worker, manager, doctor, scientist, or educator, understanding human origin, purpose, and destiny prepares one to meet the many challenges of life with faith in the heart.

Second 8th Week University believes that when the value of life is identified by faith in God it is anchored to the virtues and strength of God. Learning how to serve God in righteousness should not be reserved for those who plan to enter professional ministry, it is for all who desire to know Him. Serving God is a matter of faith and defines the purpose of life in the purest sense.

“For it is not a vain thing for you; because it is your life: and through this thing ye shall prolong your days in the land, whither ye go over Jordan to possess it”
Deut. 32:47.

Liberal Arts disciplines offered by Second 8th Week University provide curricula, tutorials, and labs designed to (a) prepare each individual with the knowledge to understand every aspect of faith and be able to apply that knowledge to their day to day living and (b) to foster the necessary critical thinking skills that makes faith practical, cognitive, and reality based. Each student enters into a one on one mentoring program designed to nurture them in the type of self-teaching and learning that builds strength of character, independence, and team spirit. These are all life-long skills that will under gird students in any professional field they choose as well as success in their private life. Lastly, (c) liberal arts disciplines offered by Second 8th Week University provide a thorough preparation for students who desire to pursue graduate studies with Second 8th Week University’s ministry related avocations.

They are educated with the basic knowledge of each of the 12 elements of the gospel, they understand the spiritual tools of the Second Covenant and how to use them, they learn how to function in their spiritual priesthood, how to recognize their cycles of their growth, and how to work with the Spirit of God who forms Christ within. They are empowered to make their own choices of faith and thus learn how to overcome themselves, the world, and the devil.  They learn how to daily walk in the Spirit, and how to steward the grace of God for others, thus expressing the charity of Jesus Christ that reaches into the soul to bring God’s healing power.  They take part in Assessment Training Labs to better understand the Exigent Faith symptoms they suffered before beginning the Foundation Series and learn to make critical distinctions for their own spiritual growth.   They take part in a Dream Workshop and learn how God communicates to them through their dreams.  They learn how to appreciate, share, and journal these dreams as well as other manifestations of the grace of God.  With these skills they learn how to know God, how to enter into His rest, how to reciprocate in kind, how to increase in the kingdom of God, and enjoyed the daily tangible evidences of Christ in their faith.
